Skillsbridge Program

The Virginia Tech Coastal Collaborator will hire Coastal Collaborator Center Interns who are transitioning out of military service that will perform a variety of duties across the various functional disciplines within the Coastal Collaborator Center to become familiar with all roles and responsibilities within the program, with the goal of finding an area of best fit.

  • The primary focus of the work group will be higher education, environmental science, and community development.
  • This role exists to create a path to careers in higher education for separating military service members.
  • This role adds value by providing a military perspective on the projects taking place in the Hampton roads community which has a very high military presence.
  • This role is unique in that it offers opportunities for growth of each intern into a study/focus area that matches their individual talents and interests.
  • Grant writing is of critical importance for all areas of higher education and is a key challenge for ensuring the continued growth and success of the Coastal Collaborator Center.

This project is made possible by the Department of Defense (DOD).
